The Survivor-Centric Approaches in Media Coverage Community works to strengthen ethical, inclusive, and survivor-focused storytelling in African media. It addresses the persistent fear among marginalized women to share their stories, especially online, due to limited access to digital platforms, low digital literacy, and cultural constraints. Members explore ways to create safe environments for digital expression, improve newsroom sensitivity, and integrate survivor-centred frameworks into reporting. The Community’s roadmap prioritizes digital-literacy training, survivor-led storytelling, and support for navigating online platforms safely. Drawing on examples from Cameroon and across Africa, it promotes media protocols that protect anonymity, amplify lived experiences, and advance collective advocacy against gender-based violence.
Note: This resource package is currently under review and will be updated as new materials are finalized.
Outlines how safe digital spaces and tailored ICT training enabled women to share their stories anonymously and securely.
