The Ethical Reporting & Content Creation on GBV Community works to build a culture of responsible, survivor-centered journalism and storytelling across African media. Recognizing that stories about gender-based violence can either heal or harm, the Community addresses gaps in ethical standards, unsafe reporting practices, and sensationalist coverage that retraumatizes survivors and misinforms audiences. 
Its roadmap promotes informed consent, anonymity protection, and trauma-aware language in all GBV-related stories. Members develop tools, checklists, and AI-supported training modules that help journalists, editors, and digital creators adopt shared standards for ethical storytelling. Through collaboration with newsrooms, media schools, and advocacy groups, this Community aims to harmonize ethical frameworks regionally, strengthen journalist–creator accountability, and ensure that every GBV story contributes to justice, dignity, and public understanding.
