We invite participants to join a research project examining how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being adopted in African newsrooms and its impact on gender dynamics, particularly for women journalists.
What This Research Is About
a. This study explores how AI is reshaping newsroom practices in Africa and investigates the Understand the lived experiences of journalists, especially women journalists who interact with AI.
b. Examine how AI affects gender roles, editorial practices, and power dynamics in the newsroom.
c. Co-create a gender-sensitive AI toolkit and practical policy guidelines for media professionals.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome participants from across the continent, particularly those from underrepresented regions, including Francophone, Lusophone, rural, and conflict-affected areas.
What Participation Involves
i. A 60-minute 1online Focus Group Discussion (FGD) via Zoom.
ii. Share your firsthand experiences, perspectives, and challenges using or witnessing AI in your media work.
iii. Contribute to shaping a toolkit and best practices for equitable and inclusive AI adoption in African journalism.
Language
a. The discussions will be held in English.
Confidentiality & Ethics
Your participation is voluntary and confidential. All data will be anonymized in reports. A participant information sheet and consent form will be provided before the discussion.
