African Women in the Media is an international non-governmental organization with the aim to positively impact the way media functions in relation to African women. Our members are African women from a diverse range of media backgrounds. Our vision is that one-day African women will have equal access to representation and opportunities in media industries and media content. African Women in the Media (AWiM) aims to contribute to the creation of enabling environments for African women who work in media industries, and to change the way African women are represented in media content. ABOUT ROLE
We are looking for a skilled and dynamic project support personnel who will play a pivotal role in supporting various aspects of our project’s execution. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including facilitating Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), assisting with Monitoring and Evaluation (M/E) activities, and contributing to data collection and analysis processes. In your role, you will be actively involved in coordinating and organizing FGD sessions, ensuring smooth communication and effective engagement among participants. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to assist in the implementation of M/E frameworks, aiding in the assessment of project progress and impact. Your involvement in data collection and analysis will be integral to generating valuable insights and informing decision-making processes. This position offers a dynamic learning environment where you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience across multiple project functions, contributing significantly to our overall success.
A high level of organisation, adaptability, and the ability to prioritise tasks independently are essential for success in this role. Moreover, motivation, self-discipline, and a positive, encouraging approach to task management are critical skills required for this position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on project initiatives.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of Monitoring and Evaluation (M/E) activities to assess project progress and impact.
- Support the development and implementation of data collection methodologies, including surveys, interviews, and observations.
- Conduct data analysis using appropriate tools and techniques to derive meaningful conclusions and actionable recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation of project reports, presentations, and other documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and databases related to project activities, including participant information, feedback, and evaluation results.
- Collaborate closely with team members to ensure alignment of project goals and objectives with organizational priorities.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, milestones, and upcoming events.
- Organize and facilitate regular listening sessions with stakeholders throughout the year to gather feedback, address concerns, and foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
- Undertake any additional duties as required by management within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the role
KEY REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced proficiency in both French and English languages is mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in a relevant field such as project management, social sciences, international development, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Excel, R).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Desirable
- Additional certification in Data Management
- Additional certification in Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Demonstrable experience facilitating FGDs, listening sessions, webinars, workshops and similar events.
- Strong attention to detail and a knack for problem-solving.
- A collaborative working style and a team-player attitude.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
