Tech Cabal and UK-Nigeria Tech Hub, have released a report examining the distribution and level of involvement of women in technology and STEM fields in Nigeria. It identifies successes, gaps, challenges and offers recommendations for further improvement.
“It is no news that there is in existence, a gender disparity between men and women in the STEM field. Ten years ago, in a research report by AAUW (Why So Few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics – STEM) [6], numerous reasons for this disparity were cited which include: stereotypes, sexism, gender bias, and the climate of science and engineering departments in colleges and universities. Ten years later, the scenery has not experienced much change.”
